Case Study – Project Management – EAC Website

We won the Bringing Art to Life award from the Edmonton Ad Club for our work with the Edmonton Art Council (EAC) brand and website redesign. The project had an intense brand redevelopment that had to take place before we could execute a complex website rebuild. The site not only had to serve as an information portal, but house dozens of pages for artist submissions, opportunities, applications, careers and even a custom eCommerce portal integration. We even went as far as designing a custom ‘art walk’ application to help people plan a route past Edmonton art installation they wanted to see. The result was a comprehensive and successful rebrand and transition to an updated, professional and design forward web experience.

The Approach

Scoping

Due to the complexity of the project, a thorough discovery session was done with user interviews, website audits and backend reviews with our technical teams.

Legacy Systems

Havintg to balance a new front-end with a legacy tech stack for ticketing needed comprehensive planning with external partners.

Design and Function

Creating a design-forward website that still excelled in user experience was a challenge that took considerable UX and UI planning balanced with a fresh brand approach.

Learnings

For the website redevelopment that I was heavily involved in scoping and project management, we had to work with several external agencies to support the technology transition. It reinforced the need for clear communication and scope management as we worked with each unique project requirement and discovered challenges through the project. Despite the complexity, we were able to successfully launch a brand new front-end experience that tied in with a critical legacy commerce structure for ticket purchases.
