Case Study – Project Management – YEG Airport
A design driven project to produce an award-worthy annual report for the YEG Airport in Edmonton. As the Digital Project Manager on this, I was responsible for organizing the project plan, resourcing, communications and even supporting with the estimate/scoping. Working with a world-class illustrator, we built a unique expression of the report with animations for the digital version. The result earned a merit award with the Strategy Magazine marketing awards and a feature in Applied Arts Magazine.
The Approach

We sought a world-class illustrator to produce a unique and organic look to what is normally a very static experience in an annual report.
Hard Deadline
Every year we have a short window to execute the annual report after results have been done and prior to the public release of financials.
Interactive Experience
Along with a strong print piece, we developed a custom landing page with an animated experience as you navigate the report.
Learnings
Having gone through several iterations of the YEG annual report, we’ve learned the importance of pre-planning, strong communication and adherence to timelines. We worked upfront with the client to thoroughly build out a workback schedule with expectations on timely reviews and feedback. The 2024 plan was a tight fit as always, but yielded an impressive annual report that turned a lot of heads in the Canadian design world!
